The Great Architectural Uprising

THURSDAY, 29 AUGUST 2019 | CPD = 1.5 formal point

Architects Role | Skills & Management | Fragmentation of Procurement Process | Cannibalisation of Fees

In light of recent events, including the Grenfell Tower fire, The Lacrosse Tower fire, The Opal Tower structural failures, the spotlight has been focused on the construction industry and the roles and responsibilities of consultants and contractors alike.

The ACA QLD/NT Branch is keen to conduct a forum to investigate a course of action to re-establish the important role architects can play in the improvement of the procurement process.

This event will provide a forum to discuss what we can do collectively to arrest and reverse the decline of the full use of the profession’s responsibility by:

  • Sharing knowledge and experiences to develop a platform for advocacy of the profession’s historical role
  • Deciding how we promote the profession and what are the key messages
  • Understanding current procurement practices and how they impact our ability to serve the community as their independent design and procurement professional
  • Reinforcing the meaning of the ‘profession’ and its relevance to the recent building failures
